Minion in plastic canvas and yarn.

20140702_184910 (1)smI have made some Despicable Me Minions with plastic canvas and yarn and plan on making some more from the patterns and ideas that I have assembled here.

First are two Minions in plastic canvas. Then I have the pattern for a Minion doll. The pattern is really cute and can be made from felt or material – fleece would come out great! Jeans material could be used for the clothing.

Have fun which ever medium you choose for yourself or your children for Halloween or any time! I plan on making the Evil Minions in plastic canvas next.

Large Minions from Despicable Me

large minionI made the small Minions first as that was the first pattern I found. A few days later I found the larger Minion with the bigger arms.

So I did him next.

With the larger Minion I worked his overalls or Jeans first. As you can see in the photo I made the spaces around the Minion to accommodate the large Minions hanging arms.

With the Perler bead patterns one must add extra spaces around it to add the last row of yarn, With Perler beads you do not need that last row.

These are so cute, easy to do and work up very fast!

Minions from Despicable Me

Here are many patterns for Despicable Me Minions. Also each Minion as I constructed it.

I made the small Minion first. Since I used a Perler bead pattern I cut the canvas too small by two squares in the width.

So I started it over again.

In the photo of the out line of his overalls I worked that first to make sure I had that right.

You can see in the photo of the small minion I am holding that I could have added two or more squares to each side. Next time I make the small ones I will do that.

Sometimes you cannot tell how your final project is going to look until you make one complete prototype.

I do that a lot especially when I only have a cross stitch pattern or a Perler pattern that you need to adapt and add squares to make it right.

Usually you need to only add two squares one on either side of the pattern on the widthwise side.

Nonetheless, I think they all came out really cute.

When I am done with the Evil Purple Minions I will add the photos of them.

I got all these Minion patterns from Pinterest. There are more at my Pinterest Account Board here.
Also next on the list is a Minion made out of felt. A very simple pattern. It is at the same board.

Full instructions for the sewn felt Minion here.

  1. Thank you for sharing your patterns! I am just getting back into this kind of artwork for the first time since I was a kid, and really want to make a Minions themed kleenex box!
