Recipe type: Breakfast, brunch, dessert
Serves: 12 rolls
Ingredients
  • For bread machine dough:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3¼ cups bread flour
  • For wheat rolls, use 1 cup wheat flour and 2¼ cups white bread flour.
  • ¼ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons yeast
  • To make the cinnamon rolls:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ to ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Put the ingredients into your bread machine according to your's machine's directions.
  2. Set the machine to the dough setting and press start.
  3. When finished, remove from machine and set on parchment paper sprinkled with flour.
  4. Cover with a towel or another piece of parchment paper, then let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll out dough, getting it as rectangular as possible (not essential, but it helps).
  6. Spread with butter, then cover with the brown sugar, cinnamon mixture.
  7. Slowly, roll the dough evenly. Squeeze the ends to hold it in place.
  8. Slice into 12 rolls about 1 to 1½ inches wide, and place evenly in buttered baking pan.
  9. Let rise in a warm location for about 45 minutes or until doubled.
  10. If you prefer, you may cover lightly and refrigerate the dough for up to 2 days.
  11. If refrigerated, when you pull them out, allow 2 hours rising time.
  12. Bake in an oven preheated to 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
  13. Remove from oven, flip onto parchment, to allow any remaining cinnamon mixture to seep into the rolls.
  14. NOTE: I like to preheat the oven to 190 degrees, then turn it off to allow the rolls to rise in the cooling oven.
