Friar's omelet recipe
  • Eight or more large apples
  • 2 oz butter
  • 1 egg
  • Sugar to taste
  • Breadcrumbs
  1. Boil eight or nine apples to a pulp.
  2. Stir in two ounces of butter, add powdered sugar to taste.
  3. Strain, then add an egg well beaten up.
  4. Butter a deep baking dish.
  5. Thickly strew breadcrumbs so as to stick allover the bottom and sides.
  6. Put in the mixture and strew breadcrumbs plentifully over the top.
  7. Put into a moderate oven and when baked turn it out and put powdered sugar over it.
