Shrimp in Spicy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup dry white wine
  • ¼ cup clam juice
  • ½ dried, seeded red chili pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • ½ bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • salt and pepper
  • a pinch of sugar
  • 1 pound medium raw shrimp, shelled or unshelled
Instructions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil.
  2. Add garlic and onion.
  3. stir in flour and paprika.
  4. Add remaining ingredients, EXCEPT for shrimp, simmer 20 minutes.
  5. While that simmers, in a separate skillet heat 1 tablespoon oil.
  6. Add shrimp, cooking until shrimp is pink.
  7. Add shrimp to the tomato mixture.
  8. Cook an additional 5 minutes then serve.
