In Memory of Elvis Presley.

 Elvis Aaron Presley was born January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977

His music is loved by all. He sang Rock and Roll, Country and Gospel. Elvis is regarded as one of the most popular figures of the 20th Century. His good looks, humor, impressive voice and charismatic moves on stage was endeared by everyone.

In 1977 his death shook the nation including me and at present time it’s been 37 yrs. since he has been gone.

That’s a long time. I remember hearing the news as if it was yesterday about his passing and watching the funeral on TV. My heart was broken as I loved his music but his songs still live on in my heart as well many others who loved him too.

My Favorite Elvis Presley Songs

  • Hound Dog (1956)
  • Love Me Tender (1956)
  • Don’t Be Cruel (1956)
  • Blue Suede Shoes (1956)
  • All Shook Up (1957)
  • Are You Lonesome Tonight (1960)
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love (1961)
  • How Great Thou Art (1968)
  • Suspicious Minds (1969)
  •  The Lord’s Prayer (1971)

All Elvis’s songs are loved so choosing just one favorite out of this list is difficult. As memories go I’d like to share more about the song Can’t Help Falling in Love.

It’s a song that brings back first love memories.

  1. I was just a kid when he died but I can still remember it. My mother in a heap on her bed sobbing the house down.

‘Always on my mind’ is my favourite Elvis song. I like ‘Steamroller blues’ too.

I reckon he did a good job of ‘Danny boy’ as well.

He’s the greatest there has ever been.

Thanks for reminding me of him with your article.

    Kind regards,

    Danny (boy) 🙂

    • Danny, you must be a romantic 🙂

Elvis was (a bit) before my time really but my favourite was Teddy Bear:

Oh baby let me be, your lovin’ teddy bear
Put a chain around my neck, and lead me anywhere
Oh let me be (oh let him be)
      Your teddy bear

I don’t want to be your tiger
      ‘Cause tigers play too rough
I don’t want to be your lion
‘Cause lions ain’t the kind you love enough

      🙂

  2. I loved Elvis. I was 14 when he died and I remember that sad day.

I loved most all of his songs and movies. One of my favorite movies is GI Blues and I loved Wooden Heart from that movie. I sang it to my own sons every night. My sons both love Elvis too.

  3. Elvis has been big talk among my mom and my quilting friends ever since his birthday last month. I just keep saying that I want to go to Graceland again.
