Shopping at Harrods of London: For Everyone

 Harrods of London ships worldwide

2014-12-10_1705_001At one time, shopping at the prestigious London store Harrods was the preserve of the rich. And only then was it available to those who lived in London or who travelled there.

I’m almost at the stage when I can’t remember the days before online shopping and it’s strange to think that now, anyone and where in the world can shop at Harrods.

The store was well known for being the place where the British Royal Family shopped and the store still has several royal warrants which indicate that it is a supplier to Her Majesty the Queen and the Prince of Wales.

Here’s an interesting story though. Harrods used to have a royal warrant from Prince Philip – the store was his outfitters. However, you’ll recall that until recently, the store was owned by Mohammed Al-Fayed, the father of playboy Dodi who was killed along with Princess Diana in Paris.

Mohammed Al-Fayed has always proclaimed that Prince Philip instigated the death of Diana and Dodi and thus banned the prince from his store. Whether or not Prince Philip cares,I don’t know. I rather doubt it somehow.

But back to the store. It’s famous for the luxury goods it sells – perfumes, clothing, jewellery, home goods, souvenirs and gifts – and what could be more special than a Harrods-branded gift for a loved one? So it’s good to know that the store ships worldwide.  Many of their products are exclusive to the store so you won’t find them anywhere else. Prices are more reasonable than you’d imagine too although when you’re at the site, do take a look at their ‘ultimate gifts’ section. There is a briefcase there that costs £30,500.00. Phew!

  1. Interesting to read about the world famous store! I’d forgotten Al-Fayed owned the store. I am other stores were willing to step in to aid the prince whenever possible. Enjoyed your article.

    • I’m sure that Prince Philip was totally unconcerned 🙂
