Spring Preserves

The Springs Preserves are located on an ancient tribal site and was later the home of early Spanish explorers. Today, you can enjoy this natural area which has the largest collection of the stunning Mojave Desert cacti, plus a butterfly habitat and relaxing gardens. Don’t miss the weekly farmers market and its local goods and produce.

Flamingo Wildfire Habitat

See a flamingo sanctuary inside a hotel. Only in Vegas, right? The Flamingo Resort is in the famous Caesar’s Palace and has the appearance of a lush tropical rainforest. The Chilean flamingos are not the only attractions you’ll see as there are other graceful birds and you’ll enjoy watching the koi carp as they swim in the waterfalls and streams. Not to be missed.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

There’s so much to enjoy here. The original ranch was founded here in 1876 and the area is now a stunning national park. Why Spring Mountain? Well, the area was first settled by the Paiute Indians because of the many springs that provided them with fresh, clean water. Within the state park, enjoy theatre productions, living history exhibits and a selection of tours.

Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at Bellagio

What a treat this is for the nature lover. You’ll find a constantly changing display of huge blooms and stunning plants that are regularly renewed with the seasons or for special events, all located within a beautiful atrium under natural light. A fascinating place.

Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory and Botanical Garden

To be found at: 2 Cactus Garden Dr, Henderson, NV 89014

Another ‘only in Vegas’ feature. Admire this amazing botanical garden and at the same time, sample delicious chocolates. Tour the chocolate factory (yes, there are free samples) and see the amazing tanks that hold more than 35,000 gallons of chocolate! Then stroll through the gardens to see a huge variety of native cacti.

Acacia Demonstration Garden

Address: 50 Casa Del Fuego St, Henderson, NV 89012

You can spend all day here getting valuable tips and advice on how to grow beautiful plants in dry areas. This is a great day out for all the family including your furry friend – the area features a dog park too. There are also regular events and demonstrations. Perfect day out, especially if you’re a keen gardener.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Without doubt, this is one of the finest nature reserves in the whole of Nevada and is a wonderful destination for those interested in enjoying hiking, walking and appreciating what nature has to offer. As a bonus, there are several camp sites in the area so you can stay overnight and make the most of the beautiful sunsets.

Lake Mead

Lake Mead is very popular with the locals who love to visit in the warmer months. This huge man made lake (the largest in the US) has wonderful cool and refreshing water making it perfect for waters ports of all kinds. You’ll find plenty of people visit for the fishing too or to enjoy the popular cruises. You can also see the amazing Hoover Dam – an incredible sight.

Mount Charleston

See wildlife such as grazing deer and even desert turtles as you enjoy this fabulous area of natural beauty with its magnificent pines and mahogany trees. You can hike, walk or play golf and in the cooler months even indulge in skiing and snowboarding.
