Children need exercise during the winter months and a mini trampoline is a toy that they can bounce on all day, and the really nice thing about them is that they can be used indoors. They are suitable for an average sized living room or bedroom and they can be taken into the garden of course.
Grandma bought our son mini trampoline on his 3rd birthday. It was a square very colorful, lightweight one, perfect for a rainy day – or any day for that matter! And my son absolutely loved it.
Sadly, I don’t have a video of him using his, but I found one on You Tube of a very cute little child using his, and it’s really worth watching. He is still in nappies. Have a look and see how much exercise, freedom, and fun he gets out of playing on it.
My son couldn’t stop bouncing up and down and having the time of his life either! His cheeks would glow and he would screech with glee when he was on it.
He became very confident at jumping higher than any animal he could imagine, including kangaroos!
I remember with so much fondness that when he got tired, he would just curl up and lie on it for a rest. Perfect!
When he was very little, he found it quite a challenge. He didn’t seem to have the confidence to really jump hard because balance was not something he was good at. So we had to teach him how to hold on tight, and we supervised him very closely. But actually he never fell off.
Once he got the hang of it he was fine. He had so much fun, and when his friends came to visit so did they!
The greatest thing by far about this kind of mini trampoline is that it can be brought indoors. So when it’s cold and wet outside the exercise can continue.
I didn’t used to take him out to the park on those horrible dark and wet evenings, and before I got the mini trampoline, I used to feel very guilty about that, because he wasn’t getting enough exercise. So this made me happy too!
Larger trampolines have to be left outside once assembled and look awful after a couple of seasons. Also, nothing grows under them so there’s always a bald patch of earth where the grass has died. They’re great if you have a lot of space, but just because your garden is small, doesn’t mean your children can’t have a mini trampoline, and one that can be brought indoors is such a bonus.
Fold & Go Trampoline
My mini trampoline was square and I must say it didn’t have quite as many safety features as the ones you can buy today.
My friend has a newer model of the same toy called a Fold & Go Trampoline made by the Original Toy Company.
The trampoline has:
- Good strong elastic that will not tear
- Six legs that makes it very stable
- A much higher weight limit than other models so it will last longer, and older siblings will be able to use it without damaging it
- The instructions are clear
- Can be folded away and transported easily
- It is so easy to assemble (I have included a video below that shows you how), it is lightweight, and yet sturdy and safe.
- It is portable and can be disassembled very quickly to be stored away.
As with all mini trampolines, they can tip over, and this model comes with a warning. People have tied weights to the legs to solve this issue. Supervision is very important when the kids are very young.
This kind of mini trampoline would make a fabulous Christmas or birthday present.
Here’s another article I wrote about children’s party ideas. It introduces you to Fiamma a puppet you might like for your child – but watch out she breathes fire!Dragon Hand Puppet
