A Terrific Race to Save The Planet
Boyd Morrison in another author, living in the Pacific Northwest, in Seattle, Washington. I am so pleased to add him to our list. I’ve enjoyed two of his novels so far, with more to come. His suspense thrillers are fast paced, exciting adventures that are pure fun.The Ark was a terrific beginning to the Tyler Locke series.
The book introduces Tyler Locke, a former combat engineer, along with friend and partner Grant Westfield, a former Ranger. They are both intelligent, clever, skilled at fighting, very capable, and rich. That means when they need anything, they can afford to buy it. Certainly makes it easier with all they are up against in this thriller.
The stories are a combination science, engineering, and some form of history, whether religious or otherwise. This first entry includes a dose of archeology as well, to make it even more fascinating.
In a way Mr. Morrison’s characters are similar to those of Clive Cussler (always a favorite). They seem able to figure their way out of anything. It’s a likable attribute for a hero to have, one he always end up needing, and one that is hard to resist.
What we learn quickly is to watch out when Tyler says, “I have an idea.”
The Story
A jet carrying a famous actor is flying off course, past its destination. When intercepted, there is no visible life on board.
A dying man whispers several last words to young archeologist, Dilara Kenner. Three of those words were, “Find Tyler Locke.” Dilara finds him, but it nearly costs her life.
When Dilara Kenner finally is able to speak to Tyler Locke, she blurts out that her father has found Noah’s Ark. It seems rather far fetched to Tyler, who doesn’t believe the Ark could have been constructed to that size in the first place. As someone tries again to kill the young woman, whether her story is true or not becomes less important than who or why someone is after her.
The book is completely fun. Tyler and company begin an exciting race to stop one man with a plan to kill billions. With his most excellent staff researching and deciphering clues along their way, they manage to stay a step out of reach of the many killers who stalk them.
But was does it all have to do with Noah’s ark? You must read it to find out.
If you prefer, you can listen to it as well. I did. The audio version is well narrated by Boyd Gaines. The pacing is good, the voices fairly distinctive. It’s such a pleasure to listen to a book. There is so much more time that way!
You have to love an inventive, able bodied hero! So, read the book and join me on the adventure that appears to be just beginning for Tyler Locke.
The Author
Besides being a successful author, Boyd Morrison is an actor, an engineer, and a Jeopardy champion! In addition to the Tyler Locke series, he has several stand alone novels.
Most recently he has collaborated with Clive Cussler on Piranha, the latest in the Oregon Files series, released in May of 2015. The two seemed to work well together—it was a great adventure.
The books in the Tyler Locke series are similar to Mr. Cussler’s, in that they are exciting adventures with a hero more than able to get in–and out of–nearly any situation. Perhaps we will see more of the two of them co-writing.
One thing that may concern some. The author does take liberties with the story of Noahs ark. His view is rather different, but do remember it is a work of fiction. It doesn’t deny, just changes some facts. That works well in the book, so I hope you will take is as such.
It’s a great read, and an entertaining series. There are four in the series so far, but I hope to see it continue for a long while.
