If you are a fan of suspense thrillers, chances are you have read Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, and Brad Thor. They have been stars of the genre for a decade or more with dozens of exciting novels between them.
Once you’ve read their books, where do you go from there? That question brought me to several newer authors who I have found to be great authors.
Ben Coes, Andrew Peterson, Mark Greaney and John Gilstrap are four I would highly recommend. You may have heard of some of their novels. Ben Coes first book, Power Down, was published in 2010. It ranks among my all time favorites, and it is his first book to be published.
Andrew Peterson’s First to Kill, was released in 2009. It was the beginning of another intriguing series featuring Nathan McBride.
The Gray Man achieved excellent reviews for Mark Greaney when it came out in 2009. You may recognize Mr. Greaney’s name from the books he co-wrote with Tom Clancy.
John Gilstrap also published his first, No Mercy, in 2009, with lead character Jonathan Graves
The stories differ greatly, but as with Flynn, Clancy and Thor, they offer similar political suspense with strong lead characters who will do anything to protect the country and the people they love. What makes it a treat is the fact that they are just beginning what I hope will be long and prolific careers. It’s nice to have many more novels to anticipate.
