Why I make my own Green Juice
It is common knowledge that we should include fresh fruit and vegetables in our diet every day, and that we should steer clear of prepared foods. My rule of thumb is that if it looks like a cabbage, then it must be a cabbage (please tell me if I’m wrong!). If it’s in a packet then goodness only knows what food it actually is. I am a scratch cook!
Although my husband and I have always eaten healthily, we noticed a couple of years ago that my son was eating fewer and fewer vegetables. And that made us worry.
So we bought a green juice machine and have been making our own fresh green juice everyday ever since.
Now nutritionists say that we should be consuming 9 portions of vegetables daily! I smile because I know that we are eating that amount and sometimes more! All raw and all fresh, and then of course we eat our cooked veg too!
Here’s more information about our experiences and some delicious green juice recipes too.
Here’s a direct link to the juicer we bought, the Samson 6 in 1 Electric Wheatgrass Juicer
It’s easy to clean and very simple to use. You can make fresh pasta and sausages with it too! It copes very well with soft vegetables like spinach and wheatgrass. I highly recommend it.

This is such a good idea, and I would like to start doing some. From what I’ve read of the bottled ones, you must need a ton of produce. Or does it go farther than they say?

I have never bought bottled vegetable juice because it doesn’t have a long shelf life . I’ve heard they’re not very tasty!! Thanks for your visit Merry

Giovanna, I’m right on board with you and although I’ve always known eating living foods are the best and processed foods are not it took the illness of my mother to give my wake up call. Glad to connect with like minded folks to have that support system around. Green is good!

This is a great idea for getting more fruits and vegetables into teenagers, especially since it’s so trendy right now. A lot of sports heroes and action-movie actors are into juicing. Thanks for sharing a way we can all help our kids to develop lifelong healthy habits.

Yes it is Kathryn. The other day my 15 year old actually said he misses his juice when we can’t make it – that’s real progress!! We usually drink it every day and we’re on our third year now. He used to hate it.
