Those fat people with no heads…
You know the ones I mean.Every time you see an article about how as a society we are getting more and more overweight, there’s going to be a photograph of someone’s middle section.
Or someone with no head (well, not a visible one, anyway) like the one you see here. And I’m getting a bit concerned about them…
I mean, you’d recognise yourself, wouldn’t you? I would. And I’d be distraught if I was used to illustrate obesity in an article.
There are so many of these articles today that I also wonder whether, if aliens from another planet are monitoring us via various websites, they think that the human race is like that – overweight and nothing above the neck.
Legally, if we’re in a public place, we’re fair game. This is why the paparazzi can get away with photographing royals if they are appearing in public – even if it is in a café or street – but why they get stiff threatening letters from William if they use telephoto lenses to snap Catherine sunbathing sans bikini top.
If you’re publishing a photograph of a person’s face, it’s always a good idea to get a model release but they don’t have rear-end releases or bulging belly releases do they?
Any fat person wobbling down the street is at risk of seeing themselves, without their head of course, in the Guardian or the Daily Mail in their latest obesity rant. And it seems that there are several every day. I wouldn’t go out. I’d stay at home.
Yes, I think obesity is a terrible problem, especially in children. In fact, I have been known to say that it’s a form of child abuse. Imagine knowing that your child can’t run and play like other children because of their weight. And, when I’m feeling particularly opinionated, I blame it entirely on the parents. Fat babies become fat children who become fat adults. Overweight is not inherited – bad eating habits are. [Removes self from soapbox]
But surely no-one wants to be the poster child?
You could say that seeing themselves exposed like that could be the motivation for them to change their ways – to think ‘blimey, that’s me in an article about fat people,I’d better do something about it’. But then,I doubt they actually read articles about obesity.
They’re probably only read by smug skinnies.
