Shrimp in Spicy Tomato Sauce

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 teaspoon flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ¼ cup tomato sauce
- ¼ cup dry white wine
- ¼ cup clam juice
- ½ dried, seeded red chili pepper
- ¼ teaspoon thyme
- ½ bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- salt and pepper
- a pinch of sugar
- 1 pound medium raw shrimp, shelled or unshelled
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil.
- Add garlic and onion.
- stir in flour and paprika.
- Add remaining ingredients, EXCEPT for shrimp, simmer 20 minutes.
- While that simmers, in a separate skillet heat 1 tablespoon oil.
- Add shrimp, cooking until shrimp is pink.
- Add shrimp to the tomato mixture.
- Cook an additional 5 minutes then serve.
