Book Review: Ice Cold, by Tess Gerritsen
This fast paced mystery may be my favorite by Tess Gerritsen. From the very beginning it pulled me right in. An impromptu ski trip, an accident in a snow storm leads to an unexpected find. A small group of houses that have been totally abandoned, and quite suddenly.
That only begins the mystery within this great story. Missing people, an attempted rescue, someone watching them—or are they stalking them? In the middle of all that four people who weren’t very compatible in the first place.
The plot gets more and more involved, especially when they find fresh footprints. Rizzoli is determined to find her associate, but is told Isles was killed. I won’t say more. I don’t want to give it away, when the story is something you should find out as you go along. Let’s just say it is exciting, intriguing, and very entertaining. I have listened to it twice now, something that rarely happens. Both times I loved it.

Are you familiar with Rizzoli and Isles?
Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles are two recurring characters in a series by Tess Gerritsen. Recently it has been a television series as well. I haven’t seen the show, but the books she wrote, years before the series, are very well done. Rizzoli is a police detective, Isles is a medical examiner. The series does not need to be read in order. This one definitely stands alone, though the follow up book, Last To Die is a good one to read as a follow up. It continues the story of one of my favorite characters in Ice Cold. I liked him so well, I was anxious to know how he was doing.
Both were very well done, with unexpected twists and surprising characters. A bit different than the usual police investigation. While I enjoy those too, this was an interesting change. An excellent story!
