Louis tea recipe: From Phil Collins
Genesis drummer and lead vocalist Phil Collins had a recipe featured in the Spokane Chronicle in 1988.
What sort of recipe would you expect from this star?
Well, he is one of only three recording artists who have sold over ten million records world (the other two are Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson) so would you expect a luxurious recipe full of sumptuous ingredients?
And of course, the rock world being the way it is, could this be a recipe for a fabulous but lethal cocktail?
He started his career as a child actor. He starred in a London production of Oliver (as the Artful Dodger) and was in the Beatles’ Hard Day’s Night and the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Bearing this in mind, plus the fact that he was born and brought up in and around London, is this recipe going to be for a childhood favourite such as jellied ells?
Thankfully, no.
Here is Phil Collins’ recipe for herbal tea.
Ingredients
Water
Loose mint tea
Loose comfrey tea
Honey
½ lemon
Cayenne pepper
Method
Put water on to boil
Put a four-to-one measure of mint tea and comfrey tea into a teapot
Pour boiling water into teapot and brew to the desired strength
Meanwhile, put the honey into the thermos flask (I usually add 2 or 3 teaspoons)
Squeeze the lemon into the flask, followed by about ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper. (I add more but I like it spicy)
Strain the tea into the thermos and shake well
