On Tour with Lauren Carr and “Twofer Murder”
Another wonderful mystery from bestselling author Lauren Carr. It’s a fun and adventurous treat as always. Well written. Fast paced. Humorous, of course. Complex and twisting reaches a new high with this one.
Many of our favorite series characters are on hand for Twofer Murder, including those from the Mac Faraday Series, the Lovers-in-Crime series, and the Thorny Rose series.
This time the men and the women have separate plans. The guys are going fishing, Gnarly included. Sounds peaceful, right? Yet with all the strange characters they meet, it isn’t surprising they run into trouble. By the way, you’ll be impressed with who becomes the best fishermen!
The women will be happily attending The Sherlock Holmes Mystery Writers Guild Conference. The association is honoring the late Robin Spencer at this years event. The authors in attendance at the conference have unique personalities. You’ll enjoy the quirks of each. Still, several of them could be killers. It makes for a fascinating event.
Before long, both the fishermen and the conference attendees will be hunting for murderes.
Fast Paced
Engrossing, intricate clues, a long ago murder, a tragic accident, an assassin…. all add up to a very complex plot.
It’s s pleasure to have the series characters sharing in the investigation. Entertaining dialogues–even sexting—reflect the relationship between all of the characters.
Complex
How Miss Carr ties all the clues together will make your head spin. She has mastered that skill. With each book it is more impressive. There were a few clues I thought I caught, but far more that came as shocks by the end of the book. I’ll be re listening to Twofer Murder very soon, to see if I see them in hindsight.
InAudio
The audio was very well done with just-right pacing. I especially enjoyed Anita Alger narrating the girls adventure and Mike Alger handling the men and their fishing trip. The voices fit the characters, and the male/female switches kept the locations clear. You can listen to a sample here.
Twofer Murder surely demonstrates how one lie can affect the lives of so many for so long. That hunger for power can be so destructive. Is it worth it?
The Series
If you haven’t read Lauren Carr before, you are in for a treat. With three series underway and a new one coming with Ice, you have a wonderful selection. Twofer Murder is a fine stand alone though. Start with this one, then see if you won’t want to go back to the start of each to learn more about the likable characters—and their furry family as well.
