Halloween Style Tic Tac Toe

From the Halloween Plastic Canvas patterns board I have at my Pinterest account, I merged two pattern ideas to make this Halloween Tic Tac Toe.

I wanted to make the two game pieces different, rather than the whole kitty and the pumpkin, I wanted a kitty face and a plain pumpkin.

(One piece of plastic canvas is all you need, size 7, or 7 holes to the inch is the easiest for me to work. I get my plastic canvas at Amazon.com. You can buy size 5, or 5 holes per inch.  This package contains 6 sheets. Hobby Lobby also has a lot of plastic canvas sizes.)

My design: My Version of Pumpkin and Kitty Tic Tac Toe

I made a pumpkin and outlined it in purple with a purple face. I did not like how it looked so I made them all plain pumpkins with a bit of green at the top for the stem.

Pumpkin pattern game piece. Also this needed to be less than 10 by 10 stitches in size.

I did the colors different on the kitty face. Instead of the suggested colors which I think was pink for the inside of the ears and what ever for the face, I used purple for the inside of the ears and the nose and mouth. I made the eyes green.

Kitty pattern game piece. Also this needed to be less than 10 by 10 stitches in size. The numbers in the pattern are the holes counted.

Board in Progress, each square is 10 holes by 10 holes, the same orange and white checkerboard for the game board.

It came out cute. One row of orange around the board and edged in purple.

I like the Ghost and Monster version of Tic Tac Toe as well.

I made five game pieces of each the kitty face and pumpkin. If I remember correctly you can only get each 4 or 5 moves total for a washout game.

Cut 5 plastic canvas pumpkin pieces.

Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe Piece – Work orange first, add purple for eyes, nose and mouth. Overcast purple on edges, add green for stem. I did not like how it came out, so I ended up making them just all orange with the green stem.

Kitty Tic Tac Toe Piece – Work all the black stitches and add eyes, ears, nose and mouth

This project is good for first time plastic canvas crafters, and children. My friend taught her grandson when he was 5. This project works up fast. You work all stitches in the same direction. The difference in direction is the stitches for the face’s.

I think as kids get older they know how to do the game and win nearly every time. So this game would be for a younger child or an adult teaching a younger child.
