Gifts for Travelers: Waist Bags & Money Belts

If you’re looking for a gift for someone who loves to travel then a money belt or waist bag is a really good idea.

When you are on holiday you really don’t need to carry all your valuables with you everyday or have all your credit cards and ID with you especially when you’re staying in one place. But when you’re moving on from place to place then you’re going to be much more vulnerable and that’s when a concealed money belt or bag is an essential thing to own.

Money Belts:

There are quite a few of really good money belts on the market. I have picked out a few that work in different ways. Some are very high security; you can’t cut through them with a knife for example, others look like ordinary belts so you wouldn’t know that you have cash hidden in them at all.

The Eagle Creek pouch is designed to be worn very close to your body where you can feel the items you want to keep safe all the time. It has a breathable mesh back so it won’t make you sweat, which is important because you should wear it on your skin, under your clothes. It has a soft adjustable waistband that extends to approximately 52 inches. It is big enough to hold credit cards, airline tickets, and passport. It won’t be noticeable under clothing.

The second Eagle Creek money belt looks like an ordinary belt but it has a hidden zip that is about 18 inches long where you hide can hide cash and a photocopy of your passport details. These types of belts are the reason why you have to remove your belt at security in airports. They are really good at hiding things! This belt is made of strong nylon and is durable.

The Stashsafe 100 has a slash proof belt and a slash proof front pocket that is lined internally with stainless steel netting to help thwart intrusion by potential thieves. It can be locked. Watch the short video because it demonstrates everything you need to know about this great bag. Unlike the above belts it is too quite big and so it cannot be hidden.

Waist Bags

Money belts work because your valuables are well hidden and well protected. A waist bag isn’t the same thing, they are more for convenience, although they can be hidden under jackets, they are designed to free up your hands, and for storing things that you need to get to quickly and easily. These are all different in nature the Waterfly holds 2 bottles on either side and is perfect for jogging, walking, cycling, hiking, and traveling. It is quite large compared to the other bags I have picked out. The waistband is 4.5cm thick and can be extended to 90 cm. It’s made of good quality PV and has breathable pads so it won’t make you sweat where it touches your body. Everst Multiple Pocket Waist Bag is a great size, 14 x 6.5 x 3 inches and has an external Velcro pocket for your mobile phone. It is big enough for a large man. The belt extends further than 42 inches. It is made of heavy canvas waterproof material and has three solid good quality zips. Gets excellent reviews because it is comfortable to wear, keeps its shape and holds lots of things.   The Kipling Merryl Waistbag is made form 100% nylon, which means that it is strong. It can easily be converted to a cross body with its detachable shoulder strap. It holds lots of things and has three inner pockets. It is 5 inches high and 8 inches wide. The other Everest waist bag is really nice to wear and is designed to look good too. It has a convenient key fob on the front. It really will make your life easier. Good for dog walkers too!
Crosspaq – this caught my attention because it is a new design of an old idea. The video explains all. See what you think. I think it could be very useful for someone who has lots of gadgets and equipment.       The other gift ideas I have chosen are all very useful. My favorite is the Addalock because it is a portable door lock that you can fit in seconds and needs no tools. It works on doors with hinges that open inwards. It will keep you safe in hotels, as staff won’t be able to open the door to your room even with key card. The personal alarm is a good idea too. It has a key that you pull and makes a very loud sound just when you need it! The books a full of great ideas and advice.
