Mount Kilimajaro actually has three dormant volcanic cones, we all know that it is the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest free standing-mountain in the world. So it’s small wonder that so many people have a dream or desire to climb it, and although it is a difficult challenging thing to do, in many cases these are people with little or no experience of climbing at all – that’s how compelling Kilimanjaro is!

There are 7 routes, some are tougher than others, but none are easy. You will have to get fit and understand that in order to get to the top you will have to dig very deep. The higher you go, the harder it gets and the altitude just adds to the difficulties – it causes headache, tiredness, nausea, muscle ache, breathlessness – that’s if it’s mild, if it’s severe, then you will be rushed down to base camp! The last day is particularly hard.

A great deal of thought and planning needs to be done in advance. It is not something that you can decide to do on a whim. However, nor is it something solely for the most hardened adventure travelers and if you feel like a personal and physical challenge, then go for it.

Climbing Mount Kilimajaro is a life-changing experience, it will test your strength and will-power, and put you through many other tests, but most of all it will make you feel that you have indeed reached the top of the world! It will be a once in a lifetime trip that will stay in your heart forever.
