Restful and relaxing blues and greys.

Various shades of blue and grey are known to be the most restful and soothing colours you can chose for your home décor. This is why so many people choose these colours for their bedrooms.

But they are a wonderful choice if you’re redecorating your lounge, sitting room or family room. Just take a look at the example below.

Just looking at the photograph is calming, isn’t it? Yet although the room is so restful, it’s also very stylish and sophisticated thanks to the well-chosen accessories.

It comes in a wide variety of sizes too so there’s bound to be one that is just right for your space. Use the blue in some small accessories in your room too for a coordinated look. Try a dark blue glossy vase containing fresh flowers for a bright and natural look.

Prices start at under sixty dollars and a striking area rug can give your room a whole new look without a huge financial outlay.

Throw pillows for your sofa and chairs have the same effect. They provide colour and interest — and comfort too, of course.

Mix bold patterns, such as the one you see here, with plain colours. These are a quick and effective way to revitalise the look of any room without breaking the bank.

If you can sew (lucky you) you’ll be able to make your own cushion covers from remnants of fabric very inexpensively.

By painting the walls of this room in a pale dove grey, the owners have created a light and airy space that lends itself to seasonal décor changes. Add yellow accessories in the summer months for a sunshine feel. In winter, add golds and reds.

Adding suitable artwork is always important. Feng Shui experts often suggest that artwork featuring water and birds (symbolising life and freedom respectively) is a wonderful way to introduce positivity into your home. What’s more, medical experts and studies have shown that this type of artwork is beneficial to our mood and our well-being.
